Wild Over Waterways
The Waterways Trust is a partner with WOW - Wild over Waterways (www.wow4water.net), an educational scheme designed to reach out to young people with the message that the waterways are a dynamic and integral part of our nation's heritage and infrastructure.
Many of the museum's education programmes and family activity events use WOW material.
There are many resources on the site for teachers, group leaders and parents on the site, accessible through a national curriculum search, with include safety resources, activity packs and information packs which can be downloaded.
The content is based on current educational best practice, linked to the curricula of England, Scotland and Wales, for Key Stage 2 (7-11 year olds) teachers.
On the WOW website, children can:
- Discover the wildlife that make their home in and around our waterways
- Learn about our canal heritage - bridges, locks and buildings
- Find out about the waterways near them
There are lots of games to play, information for school projects and details of waterway events.
